Flight 1
OS354 Brussels Vienna Airbus A319 14E
As flight 1 of my 5 flight schedule I left Brussels on Austrian’s A319 to Vienna, as the previous flight was cancelled this one was pretty full. When the boarding started the ground staff made a call to motivate passengers to put their smaller hand luggage underneath the seat in front of them. As I checked in quiet late I wasn’t lucky and got a middle seat 14E. The boarding process itself was relatively slow as everyone was looking for a space to put their hand luggage. Funny fact on Austrian is that they don’t have row 13 on their planes. In general the cabin looks pretty much the same as on Lufthansa but with red accents. Austrian still offers Business class on their flights which is divided with a curtain which is closed after take of. Service in Economy is ok for a 1hr20 flight. In Business class they announced they would serve a hot meal (which Brussels Airlines isn’t offering anymore on that same route) and in economy you can choose between a bag of crisps or a sweet snack. I opted for a sweet snack which was a typical Austrian cookie. They also provide wifi on their planes which is against a fee and controlled by T mobile and basically the same as on Lufthansa.
The general impression of the cabin is that it breathes Austrian, the red accents and branding on bulkheads and dividers makes you aware you’re flying the national company of Austria. Service wise it’s rather a small snack to offer which is the same you get on a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt but there were only 2 cabin attendants in the economy class cabin so they would have a higher workload if it was a more complete meal offer. In the end you get what you pay for and for a 1hr20 flight you wouldn’t expect more. The flight was on time, the cabin was clean and the crew as ok.
